Research Day: Carers Week

42% of Befriending Networks members are actively supporting Carers and Care Leavers through their befriending service. However, many of our members will be supporting those who are not registered as carers, or will have staff members who are care givers. For this reason, we are hosting a research day event for Carers Week 2024.

Purpose of event

Our June Reasearch Day is part of our acknowledgement, celebration and support of Carers Week 2024 and to the stakeholders in a care environment. This event aims to provide information and guidance for anyone who is a Carer, supporting a Carer, or may become a Carer.

Carers Week is June 10 - June 16 2024. Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK. We hope that this event on Monday 10th June 2024 can act as a great beginning to an important week.

Who is this event for?

Our guest speakers

We are thrilled to be joined by Professor Maria Evandrou, FAcSS of the University of Southampton and Professor Jane Falkingham CBE, FAcSS, FRSA of the University of Southampton. Maria and Jane have been working together to review the impact of care and bring their wealth of experience and research skills to collaboratively investigate at the Research for Ageing. Maria is the Director of the ESRC Centre for Population Change, Jane is the Co-Director. We are thrilled to have this presentation and hope their research can support our members to best understand, support and work with carers.
