East Dunbartonshire Befriending Service
The aim of the service is to challenge loneliness and social isolation and to improve the quality of life of our clients throughout East Dunbartonshire. We do this by providing a range of befriending services to vulnerable adults, aged 18 years and above who would benefit from companionship and increased interaction with others. The service delivers one to one befriending, group befriending, a telephone service, as well as hosting several social events each year. In addition, East Dunbartonshire Befriending Service also now runs a service for young people aged between 12-18 years of age matching school pupils with adult volunteers.
Information for volunteers
If you could spare a couple of hours once a fortnight you could make a significant difference to the lives of lonely, socially isolated residents in the East Dunbartonshire area.
The Befriending Service offers a range of volunteering opportunities including one to one befriending, either face to face or by telephone, assisting in one of our group befriending sessions, or as a driver helping to transport individuals to groups or events.
