Thu 4 May 2023

For the past few years, we have provided a Research Day during the week of Befriending Week, November 1st – 7th, with the intention of providing information and guidance to staff of community projects to assist operations. We thoroughly enjoy these events and know that you do to.

“The conference, speakers and presentation were all very informative, the break-away groups were constructive, and many current issues and points were discussed.” – Previous attendee
“Very informed in particular and research aspects of the area in which they work. Truly inspiring.” – Previous attendee
“Definitely run something similar again please, it was excellent use of our time - and well done planning it. Well done Befriending Networks - can only imagine the considerations and work that went into this. Fantastic job – Previous attendee

Befriending Week is an annual opportunity to shine a light on the impact of befriending and to celebrate the wonderful work befriending projects create around the world. For this reason, our annual conference and AGM event will still run in November – but we have moved our Research event to the summer. We hope this can accommodate our membership and the request for more time to focus on celebrations in November.

Free and excusive to members of Befriending Networks, join us online on Tuesday 20th June 2023 for our Research Day: Financial Focus. Due to the current climate, we thought it was important to focus on the Cost of Living Crisis and the effect it is having on our sector: the staff; service users; and volunteers. With three fantastic speakers, and four segments for networking, we hope you can leave this event feeling informed, and feeling connected.

We are thrilled to have presentations of research from Volunteer Scotland, Pro Bono Economics and Mental Health Foundation. The event is also structured to provide networking opportunities, facilitating the opportunity to build peer support and share best practice on how to navigate this current climate. This event is targeted at staff of befriending projects, at any level. Free to members of Befriending Networks, £10 per non-member attendee.
