Neston Community Youth Centre

Neston Angels is a befriending service based at Neston Community Youth Centre, supporting older people in the CH64 area who live alone and would like more company.

We combat loneliness by ‘matchmaking’ volunteers with local people, to provide informal, social support and form a trusting relationship over time. With the help of the co-ordinator and our social prescribing link worker, befrienders can also help befriendees to build up their personal network of support, take part in local activities and feel a part of their community again.

Information for volunteers

Neston Angels is a well-established befriending service covering the CH64 area. We train local volunteers of all ages to support older people to feel less isolated, improve their wellbeing, and connect them into the community.
Through a weekly telephone call, home visit, or meet up at a cafe or park, volunteers develop a bond of friendship with an older person. The ideal befriender will have an interest in older people and the issues of later life, be reliable, patient with good conversational and listening skills.
