Together Co Befriending (previously Impetus Neighbourhood Care Scheme) enables people to offer support to older people, adults with physical disabilities and their carers who live near them. The main support provided is befriending and help with going out, but volunteers also support people around health and wellbeing issues (obtaining information, signposting to services, helping with medical appointments etc.). We have 300+ volunteers supporting 400+ people each year in Brighton & Hove.
Information for volunteers
We are looking for volunteers who can commit to an hour or so a week for at least 6 months as a befriender. You will go through a standard recruitment procedure involving an interview with a team member to find the right match for you, two references and a DBS check.
After a tow hour induction session you will be matched with someone in Brighton and Hove who we hope you will get on and have stuff in common! You will meet regularly for a cuppa, and chat to give that person some connection with the outside world and a renewed sense of purpose.
We offer ongoing training, support groups and social events to all our volunteers.
