LEAP Project

LEAP works in a number of communities within the South Lanarkshire area providing a free befriending and handyperson service, and activities and classes, to people aged 50 and over who are lonely and isolated, helping them remain safe in their homes and a part of their community.

Information for volunteers

LEAP offers a range of befriending services including one to one befriending in a clients home, telephone befriending and group befriending. We are also currently running a group befriending experience for both people who are living with dementia and their carers.
We offer a range of volunteering opportunities across our befriending service.
Our one-to-one befriending service matches volunteer befrienders with clients aged 50 and over on a regular basis in their homes to offer companionship and chat, helping to combat isolation and loneliness.
Our telephone service offers weekly calls from a volunteer.
Our group befriending offers opportunities for volunteers to actively lead the groups.
Our dementia group is a lunchtime group that meets every two weeks and which offers a range of support and activities for both people living with dementia and their cares.
Our handy person service offers opportunities for volunteers to help deliver our free service.
All of our volunteer opportunities offer comprehensive induction, training, development and support and supervision. Also a number of activities throughout the year for volunteers to come together.
