Hands On Project (LEAP)
Hands On Project works in a number of communities within the South Lanarkshire area.
The project forms part of LEAP (Lightburn Elderly Association Project) which is a Scottish charity based in Halfway, Cambuslang.
We provide a free befriending and handyperson service to people over the age of 50 who are lonely and isolated and who are experiencing difficulties due to their health condition.
Information for volunteers
LEAP's befriending service offer one-to-one befriending in people's
homes and in friendship groups through its Hands On Project. Since the onset of the pandemic we have also offered telephone and digital befriending
Our one-to-one befriending service matches volunteer befrienders
with clients aged 50 and over on a regular basis in their homes to offer companionship and chat, helping to combat isolation and loneliness.
