Reducing Inappropriate Referrals

This is a brand new course designed in 2021 based on your feedback and contribution during our Q+A sessions in 2020. Have other special requests for training material? Get in touch with Victoria@befriending.co.uk

Purpose of course:

We are aware that many befriending projects struggle with inappropriate referrals. This can happen in many different shapes and forms. For example: not meeting criteria or withholding of information to meet eligibility.

Reducing Inappropriate Referrals: Growing strong relationships and a clear message is a course requested by you and created around your needs. This short course is designed to provide you with support and guidance on this topic. It is important to know how to grow a strong relationship with your referrers, whether individuals or agencies. With steps for improvement and good practice on creating a stronger relationship and guidance on how to minimise inappropriate referrals, this training event will give you food for thought to implement or improve your structure.

Assessment of Learning:

There is no written work to complete on this training course. You will receive a course booklet via email on day one. Read this and prepare answers to the scenarios for webinar discussion. Have a specific scenario you need help with? Submit it to Victoria@befriending.co.uk before the webinar and we will discuss it online, providing you with guidance from Befriending Networks as well as guidance from any other befriending projects participating.

You will have Monday - Thursday to complete the reading and prepare for the webinar. We recommend 1-2hours to do so. All participants in this course will join online for the webinar on the last day. This webinar will run for 1.5hrs.
