The aim of the process is to ensure that by personalising each match, they are given the best opportunity to become established and meet the needs and expectations of both parties.

This module is designed to help build your knowledge and understanding of the importance of the matching process as well as to help you reflect on your own organisation and experience. By the end of the session, participants will have explored:
• The incorporation of personal preferences (of befriendees and befrienders) into decisions about who to match with whom
• Choices and information sharing as part of the matching process
• The categories of information which the organisation needs to gather about befrienders and befriendees in order to inform the matching process and how this information is stored
• How matching decisions are made and communicated within their service
• The ideal match meeting for their service
• The support given to new matches after the initial meeting
• How to avoid making inappropriate matching decisions and what to do when matches go wrong
• Good practice guidance in creating lasting and fulfilling matches
Vital Skills is made up of one resource pack (which includes the theory, best practice and advice) and one activity pack where you are asked to put your knowledge to the test. Modules may also have quizzes. All work is accessible online and is marked online. This streamlined format is designed to support your busy schedules. The contact session takes place on Go To Meeting. During this video conference you can compare answers with other organisations, share best practice as well as get feedback on your work.
Both the course work and the webinar are mandatory for achieving the module.
