Research: York & District MIND research paper

The dissertation first examines the effects of mental ill-health and the goals of and approaches to befriending in order to establish a context for the York and District Mind (YDM) befriending service. The qualitative element of the study interviews four YDM befriending service users and gives voice to their experiences within the framework of mental ill-health and befriending as reflected in current literature. The dissertation concludes by considering the limitations of the study, the implications of the findings and makes recommendations on behalf of the service users.
