Bolton Adult Autism Support

We are a family social and support group for parents/carers of children (18 plus) who have, or think they may have, an Autism Spectrum Condition (such as Asperger’s Syndrome or High-Functioning Autism) and who have or may have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and/or Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD).
We operate fortnightly group social events, and also facilitate a befriending service where we match our adult autistic members with a befriender to undertake social activities and work towards prior agreed goals.

Information for volunteers

BAAS Befriending aims to put the befriended in the centre of the service. We spend time getting to know the befriended, find out their likes and dislikes, where they want to go, what they want to be, and then we match you with a trained and DBS checked volunteer and hopefully, a friendship will be created!

It sounds easy, and we know it isn’t always just as easy as that! This is why we have a dedicated Volunteer Co-ordinator who will support both the volunteer befriender and befriended closely during every step of the process.
