North Coast Connection

North Coast Helping Hands is a volunteer befriending service providing support and companionship either by telephone or in a person's own home. It is available to all adults in the local area. The service is run in partnership between North Coast Connection (a local charitable organisation providing a well-being hub based at the Kyle Centre in Tongue) and Highland Hospice. The service is tailored to the needs and wishes of the individual. Support can include respite for carers, companionship and providing opportunities to participate in social and recreational activities.

Information for volunteers

Volunteers are very welcome to join our team. Training is provided under the auspices of Highland Hospice and North Coast Connection. Volunteers are supported in their role by our part-time co-ordinator and through regular meetings with other volunteers. Hours are very flexible and arranged at a time mutually convenient to yourself and the client you are supporting. Visits or telephone calls are usually made on a weekly or fortnightly basis. Volunteering for North Coast Helping Hands can be a very rewarding experience and will make a meaningful difference to people when they need it most.
