Scottish Cot Death Trust

Scottish Cot Death Trust was founded in 1985 and is the only charity in Scotland dedicated to the issue of the sudden unexpected death of babies and young children. We are a Scottish charity with a small team of dedicated staff and volunteers providing support for bereaved families. We aim to provide holistic bereavement support for all family members, where and when they need it.
Peer support includes our befriending service and online peer support groups. We can put bereaved adult family members in contact with either one dedicated befriender – another mum, dad, grandmother or grandfather who has also experienced the death of a baby or child or people may join our online community.

Information for volunteers

Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.

A small charity with a big reach; we have a dedicated team of staff but volunteers are crucial in helping us to fulfil our charitable aims.

We are lucky to have a (very small) group of regular volunteers – we are also grateful to those who have helped out as a one-off or occasionally, when they can.

Volunteers can help us by:
befriending (where they have personal experience of SUDI)
helping out at fundraising events
assisting with administrative tasks
providing us with time to share their own expertise within certain topic areas

If you are interested in volunteering your time and being part of Team SCDT, please take a look at our volunteering vacancies below.
