Adanna Women's Support Group

Adanna Women's Support Group aims to alleviate poverty in women and children through advice, education, employment, business enterprise and support for the benefit of mainly (but not exclusively) BAME women, women from immigrant communities and young parents living within the East London area of Barking and Dagenham, Redbridge & Newham.
We provide support for women who have gone through domestic abuse or other relationship issues, have low self esteem or confidence due to other life challenges, have lost their way after having children and need to reconnect with themselves again, women with no recourse to public funds.

Information for volunteers

We are looking for befrienders from the BAME community who can listen to encourage and support BAME women who are going through lifes challenges. It would be great if you have had lived experience of the issues we deal with but it is not essential. You do need to be empathetic and be willing to provide a listening and reassuring ear and be able to work confidentially. We also have monthly group meetings where the women come together and share information and tips on lots of different topics e.g. healthy eating, parenting, COVID worries, etc. contact us today if you would join our small team of women supporting women. You will get a lot of self fulfillment and satisfaction from helping lift up other women. we pay any travel or other out of pocket expenses and provide training. you will need a DBS check.
