Rescare was founded in 1984 by parents and friends of people affected by the closure of large NHS hospitals for people with learning disability. Run “by families for families”, Rescare is based in Stockport and has members all over the UK.

We have developed a small befriending service across the UK, primarily telephone based to support family members including parents, siblings and a loved one with a Learning Disability.

Where possible if one of our volunteers lives close to a family we will encourage face to face befriending.
