The Volunteer Befriending service offers regular telephone call with one of our trained volunteers for somebody who may be lonely or isolated. The content of the call is entirely up to you but the befriender will always provide a listening ear.
Befriending can be a vital link between you and what is going on in the world. It may be that you just want somebody to chat about what is going on in the news, or how your favourite sports team is getting on. Maybe you just want a friendly person to share your day with, our Befrienders will be on hand to provide that regular contact.
Information for volunteers
Many Home Group customers live alone, in rural areas or are recovering from Mental Health Conditions, living with a disability or are older. Some have limited access to social media, internet use or family members to contact them on a regular basis. A Volunteer Befriender would commit to a regular telephone call to say hello, chat about their favourite topic or discuss how they are feeling would be very welcomed by many. It may turn into a virtual game of cards or music session. All Befriending Volunteers must be Home Group customers.
