The Mulberry Centre
The Mulberry Centre is a cancer information and support centre with a welcoming and non-clinical environment based within the grounds of West Middlesex Hospital in Isleworth. We are a registered charity and the majority of our funding comes from charitable donations.
Our aim is to deliver a range of information and support services to all people affected by a diagnosis of cancer: the cancer patient, those bereaved by cancer and the main carer/supporter.
Our telephone befriending service started in November 2020 and aims to work with clients age 65+ who are affected by cancer providing regular check in and chat calls over a time limited period and an introduction to our variety of remote services and a weekly social online workshop.
Although most our users come from the London Boroughs of Hounslow, Richmond and Ealing, we are open to all, regardless of postcode or hospital of diagnosis. We have also recently extended our services to include people affected in a similar way by COVID-19.
Information for volunteers
We provide a number of volunteering opportunities - our volunteer roles currently include telephone befrienders, counsellors, complementary therapists, welcomers, admin support, community engagement, fundraisers and marketing, workshop providers, estates & facilities and trustees.
All of these roles collectively help us to deliver a range of information and support services to all people affected by a diagnosis of cancer: the cancer patient, those bereaved by cancer and the main carer/supporter.
