Newark and Sherwood Community and Voluntary Service
Listening Line provides a telephone befriending service to residents living in the Newark and Sherwood area who are struggling with loneliness and isolation. The service provides a weekly phone call from a dedicated volunteer befriender. This is NOT an advice line service and we do NOT provide any form of personal care, respite care, shopping, handyperson or transport services. The service operates Monday to Friday between the hours of 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

Information for volunteers
Listening Line is a new 6 month pilot service offering telephone befriending to residents affected by isolation and loneliness. Residents who are referred into the service will receive a weekly phone call to see how they are, and have a friendly conversation. The service is available for residents who feel isolated and vulnerable and calls will take place between Mondays and Fridays at a mutually convenient time. Full training and ongoing support and supervision is provided for all volunteers.
