We are offering one to one telephone support for people who have either Polymyalgia Rheumatica (PMR) and/or Giant Cell Arteritis (GCA) who are isolated and in need of someone who understands the conditions. We are aware that PMR and GCA are poorly understood, and though we have a number of meet up groups around the country, we don't have enough for everyone and many people are house-bound due to these conditions. In many cases people will have been ill for a long time before they were diagnosed, which has led to difficulties in managing the conditions.
Our Befrienders will call you once a week for a 30 minute chat.
Information for volunteers
We are looking for people who have had or who still suffer but are able to manage their conditions, either Polymyalgia Rheumatica (PMR) and/or Giant Cell Arteritis (GCA). Our Befriending service offers people looking for a befriender a weekly call of around 30 minutes to discuss their illness and to speak to a friendly voice who gets what they are going through.
