Beith Community Development Trust

We offer a telephone befriending service for people in North Ayrshire that are isolated within their community. We offer a weekly phone call for people to discuss how their life is going ' a chance to blether about your favourite soaps, hobbies and interests or just day to day chit chat'.

We can sign post people to services and groups which would have a positive impact and can bring people together at social events throughout the year.

Information for volunteers

You would be required to come in weekly or every 2 weeks for 3 hours to telephone clients - offering a short 15-minute chat, with a friendly voice to try and brighten their day.

You would be offered training and regular supervision to support you in your role and wider support within the trust.

Current volunteers love their role and have given this feedback:-

"When asking her what he feels she has gained from her volunteering she highlights some key areas:-
• Feels good about herself because she can see that she is helping people
• She’s able to contribute her skills
• Learned new skills
• Feel part of the team
Impact of Volunteering
She loves the fact that she is helping people in areas of their lives where they face challenges such as loneliness, needing a job, debt etc She talks to a lot of people do not have anyone to talk to and just a 30 minute call can make such a difference. Getting to know people and seeing their progress is such a good feeling, hearing positive feedback "
