Volunteer Action

Volunteer Action offers both a Face to Face Befriending Scheme and a Telephone Scheme (which was set up during the Covid pandemic), The Scheme operates within VA's catchment area in North East Northamptonshire and supports isolated or lonely people who are in receipt of State Pension or have a disability or a life limiting illness.

The Face to Face Scheme pairs up a member with a volunteer who will make regular visits to the members home. A matched volunteer will call once a week for a chat on the Telephone Befriending Scheme.

Information for volunteers

Just a small commitment of time each month could make a big difference in a lonely person's life.

Volunteer Action's Scheme operates within VA's catchment area in North East Northamptonshire and supports isolated or lonely people who are in receipt of State Pension or have a disability or a life limiting illness. You will be matched with one person. Our service is simple - meet at the member's house a couple of times a month for a chat and a cup of tea or sign up to be a Telephone Befriender and ring an isolated person weekly for a simple chat.

References and DBS check and some mandatory training is required.
