Dundee Voluntary Action

Community Companion befrienders support people who are lonely or socially isolated. We match volunteers to individuals based on matching criteria such as hobbies, interests and life experiences. The Community Companion visits the person for an hour or two each week. The time could be spent having a chat, going for a walk, going for a coffee or to a social activity, it is up to the two of you how you would like to spend the time. This type of befriending focuses more creating a friendship rather than reliance.
We also offer weekly social cafes. These are held in local care homes and sheltered complexes and allow small groups of people to come together and spend some quality time with one another over a cup of coffee or an activity. The cafes last for an hour to an hour and a half and are situated throughout Dundee.
