All of our clients are referred via various different sources throughout Cheshire West and Cheshire East for example Wellbeing Co-ordinators, Social Prescribers, doctors, link workers, social Workers etc. We also accept self-referrals.

Our Scheme is for anyone living in the area, aged over 50 9age criteria relaxed during Covid 19) who is experiencing loneliness or is feeling socially isolated or both, and aims to alleviate this by providing a volunteer Buddy or Befriender to spend time with on a social basis.

Information for volunteers

Originally commissioned by Brightlife in October 2018 Changing Lives Together Buddying and Befriending Scheme aims to reduce loneliness and isolation amongst the over 50s across Cheshire West and Cheshire East.

The scheme will provide Volunteer Buddies and / or Befrienders to those who maybe experiencing loneliness or isolation, and will support them to improve their lives. This could be supporting someone to gain the confidence to leave the house for the first time, to join clubs or undertake new activities and to become more involved in the communities around them. Originally set up as a Face to Face Befriending Service, At present we are only offering a Telephone Befriending Service.

If you would like more information or you would like to get involved as a Volunteer Buddy or Befriender please contact any one of the team.
