Cyril Flint Volunteers

Cyril Flint Befrienders aims to combat loneliness and social isolation amongst the elderly and the detrimental affects this can have on theor physical and mental health.

We match our trained befriending volunteers with lonely and/or socially isolated older people in the local community in Trafford and South Manchester, based on location, shared hobbies and interests to encourage long-lasting friendships.

Our volunteers agree to visit an older person for a minimum of one hour per week, combating loneliness one friendship at a time.

Information for volunteers

We ask our volunteers to commit to visiting a lonely local older person for an hour a week, providing them with the human contact and friendship needed to combat the feelings of loneliness and social isolation. These visit often also help the older person connected to the local community.
Most of our visits take place in the older persons own home, with the volunteer visiting them there for an hour each week for a cup of tea and a chat. Some people like to go out for the hour and this all depends on the individuals who are matched up and their preference and abilities.
