Cyril Flint Befrienders matches trained befriending volunteers with isolated or lonely older people in the local community in Trafford and South Manchester. We match people up based on location as well as shared hobbies and interests to encourage long-lasting friendships.
Our volunteers agree to befriend for a minimum of one hour per week, providing some regular company for those who sign up to our service.
Information for volunteers
We are looking for volunteers who can commit to visiting a lonely local older person for an hour a week. You will be helping to reduce their feelings of loneliness and isolation and giving them some much need human contact and friendship. you will also help them to feel connected to the local community again. We currently cover Trafford and South Manchester areas.
Most of our visits take place in the older persons own home, with the volunteer visiting them there for an hour each week for a cup of tea and a chat. Some also like to go out for the hour and this all depends on the individuals who are matched up and their preference and abilities.
