VisionPK was originally established as a society for the blind in the city of Perth in 1866 and therefore has a very long history of providing services for blind and partially sighted people in the area.
Today VisionPK serves the local authority area administered by Perth & Kinross Council - an area covering over 2000 square miles - and serves blind or partially sighted people and deaf or hard of hearing people of any age.
In early 2015 we set up a befriending pilot service, provided by volunteers recruited specifically for this purpose. The service is managed by our Volunteer Services Manager. Clients are referred into the service by our professional fieldworkers where they have identified individuals whom they consider would benefit from befriending - mostly lonely, isolated older clients.

Information for volunteers

With only a small staff we rely on help from our loyal team of volunteers to enable us to extend the scope of our activities and reach more people.
