Befriending Lewis

Befriending Lewis & Harris works on the ground level to directly tackle isolation and loneliness in the lives of people living in Lewis and Harris. Our aim is to reach out to people who are isolated and lonely, people who have very little or no social contact with other people – elderly, physically disabled, people with learning disabilities, people with mental health problems, ex-offenders re-integrating back into society, people leading chaotic lifestyles due to addiction, settling asylum seekers, and other people who are lonely or isolated due to a variety of different reasons.

Information for volunteers

Befriending Lewis & Harris want to help people who are suffering the impact of feelings of loneliness and isolation to start feeling connected to other people in a positive way again.
We have a whole host of volunteer opportunities available - whether it be telephone, face to face or group befriending, helping out at any of our events or on one of our short term volunteering projects - there's a place for everyone. Please don't hesitate to get in touch should you be interested!
