BHA BeFriend

BeFriend is a project of Berwickshire Housing Association, part funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, Scotland.
We provide one to one, telephoning and group befriending for people who are 65 and over, living in Berwickshire or Kelso.

Information for volunteers

Our volunteers visit or call older people 65+ who feel lonely and isolated, offering companionship, a chat, a chance to go out for coffee, or even a walk around the park.
The people our volunteers visit really feel the benefit to their physical and mental wellbeing of having a volunteer matched with them.

As well as one-to-one befriending, we offer the chance to attend group befriending which are organised around local community events and provides a vital connection between older people and their communities.

You can help by making phone calls, visiting people, helping out at the groups or providing lifts.
