Families First

Our befriending service offers children and young people one to one support with trained volunteers. It places value on the individual and gives them the opportunity to form positive relationships, and build self-esteem. Befrienders give children and young people individual attention and support, provide them with encouragement, and help reduce feelings of isolation.

Information for volunteers

Families First work alongside children, young people and their families, throughout north east Fife, to help them overcome the challenges they face in life. By supporting these children and their families we aim to:

• Improve social connections.
• Improve educational outcomes.
• Improve wellbeing.

We offer 3 core early intervention services - Family Support (adults), One-to-One Befriending (children) and Young People's Support. All of the people we work with are referred to us by external agencies.

Our overall objectives are to strengthen the social and emotional development in children, young people and adults, so they can become effective contributors to their communities. We do this in a number of ways, by providing opportunities for our service users to explore the challenges they face and gain new experiences in a safe environment with supportive staff and volunteers.
