BeFriend in Bellshill

BeFriend in Bellshill is part of the multi-activity Orbiston Neigbourhood Centre. Our volunteers befriend older adults in Bellshill and the surrounding area, who experience feelings of loneliness or isolation. We aim, with the help of our volunteers, to provide companionship and support, to increase the confidence and self-esteem of our befriendees and help them feel part of their local community. Our 1 to 1 befrienders are matched with a befriendee and visit them at home, usually weekly. They will spend an hour or so there and talk with their host. Where appropriate they can accompany their befriendee on short outings for a coffee etc. We also provide telephone befriending which involves a weekly call for a maximum of 30 minutes from the same volunteer each week for a chat. We have 5 befriending groups which bring people together for activities, company, fun and a chat. Please contact us for more information.
