Queensferry Churches Care in the Community - Befriending Project

We work with people over 60 with a wide range of health & social needs. Providing companionship & friendship to people who are isolated housebound or just want more company.

During the pandemic, telephone and written correspondence replaced traditional befriending. This method of befriending is remains available however following guidelines we have returned to face to face befriending.

Lunch Club

A lunch Club is provided on the 1st and 3rd Thursday each month at Ratho Community Centre and volunteers are needed to set up the venue, serve a light lunch and ensure that everyone attending is made welcome and integrated in to the group.

A similar service will resume in Kirkliston.

Driving

Public transport doesn't always fit in with times for appointments. Volunteers will take older people along to appointments such as dentist, hair or doctors. You would need to have your own car with valid MOT and join the PVG Scheme. Volunteers will be emailed or called when requests come in for the service.
