Why Campaign?
Campaigning works. History is littered with examples of popular pressure making a difference. You don't need to be worthy or an expert on the issues to campaign - you just need to care enough to take action, know who to target and know what to say - however small and insignificant it may seem.
Campaigning doesn't have to be elaborate, costly or time-consuming and can be as straightforward as a one-off letter to your MSP who will then take up the issue on your behalf.
There are lots of different ways to campaign. How you campaign, together with the methods and timescale you choose, depends on what you want to achieve. You could campaign:
- to stop a befriending service closing
- to stop a local service e.g. public transport from being cut
- by lending your voice to a wider or national campaign
- for a new befriending service to be developed
- to raise awareness of the vital work your befriending service does
However daunting it may seem, you are in a strong position. You already know what is available, what is working and what still needs to be done. You know how much can be achieved in befriending with very little.
