Policy on cheating, plagiarism or malpractice
Befriending Networks will scan all course assignments onto computer and hold them on file.
We acknowledge that there may be a similarity between completed assignments, as each participant will be reflecting what they have learned in the training sessions and will be producing assignments based on best practice within befriending.
We also acknowledge that participants may borrow from materials in the BNS online resource library.
We do however expect people completing the assignments to write them on their own.
If we think that candidates have plagiarised the work of others they would:
- fail the course assignment.
- have to redo the training input element of the section of the course at their own expense.
- be set an alternative assignment to complete.

“I'd say it's definitely worth doing as it gives you an all round view of befriending co-ordination. It offers a good grounding to those new to befriending and can challenge your pre-conceived knowledge. It is conducted by a practitioner who has her finger very much on the pulse of befriending and is in no way sat in an ivory tower as sometimes trainers/tutors can be. It is a chance to meet other befriending co-ordinators who you can share ideas and concerns with and who are able to relate to your position.”
