Linking Lives Eastbourne

Linking Lives Eastbourne is a befriending scheme for the over 65’s who are living alone, connecting them with volunteers who offer friendship through visiting, telephone chats or going to community activities, with the aim of reducing loneliness and improving quality of life. Volunteers are safely recruited and trained.

Information for volunteers

Linking Lives Eastbourne is a befriending scheme, training and connecting volunteers from local churches with adults over the age of 65, in the Eastbourne area who live alone and may be socially isolated or lonely. Our volunteers follow a safe recruitment process and all have an enhanced DBS in place.

Options are face to face befriending visits at home, telephone befriending, or meetups and outings. Volunteers will usually stay matched to the same "Link friend", and will meet up, visit or call regularly for a chat. We have recently started "Alongside", an option of attending community activities together for 3-6 months until a Link friend has the confidence to attend themselves.
